However, finding a qualified firm to provide rapid response, low cost and great quality is nearly impossible and is why we created this division. We know very well that you are faced with either working with part-time firms which will give you a lower price point than a fully staffed firm but turnaround times are usually very slow.

Creating a set of existing conditions it’s typically its viewed as a chore in a fully staffed architetural firm and delegated to new staff with little to no thought put into it. Simply put there isn't any profit in it. This is why it's so difficult to find a professional firm to take on projects like this unless they charge a small fortune We know…we’ve been at it for 20 years. It’s viewed as something that must get done so the firm can get onto the more exciting parts of the design process. Fully staffed, professional firm are simply not interested in only creating measured drawings to help you lift a stop work order, clean up a CO or create basic floor plans for some Town need.

How Did We Get Here
PKAD Architecture and Design is a 100% Architect Owned company founded by Philipp Kampf, R.A. License # 32945 nearly 20 years ago
During that time PKAD has primarily focused on the residential side of the architecture world but has served numerous state, municipal, historical and church organizations. Cutting edge technology and logistics are at the very core of what we do here at PKAD.
These tools helped us to secure and successfully complete a $3 million contract with NY State for Storm Recovery services in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. This contract contained a large number of single residential properties which were storm damaged and needed to be elevated. This contract afforded us the necessary repetition to develop a proprietary process of capturing existing conditions utilizing laser scanners and a host of other software tools that resulted in speed, accuracy and low overhead costs.
During the summer of 2019 we received a call from a representative in North Carolina in charge of their disaster recovery efforts after Hurricanes Florence and Matthew. The State of North Carolina needed to undertake a similar scope of work involving 1000 homes which ranged from the South Carolina border to the Virginia border. We were faced with the logistical challenge of measuring existing conditions in the form of floor plans and elevations with a high degree of accuracy and then modeling these thousand homes over a large geographical area.
After nearly 18 months of deliberation and competition with other significantly larger firms we finished second in the bidding process losing the 8 figure contract by one vote. Left with this business model for measuring floor plans and elevations, we turned our attention to our local Long Island market to see how we can once again help our neighbors during their time of need.
